Wow! Nice unit. Good to see you went bigger than you started to. Lots of good people here that will help answer all your questions. You will be glad later when you are seeing and catching all them fish. Looking forward to seeing your reports and pictures.
Be safe and good luck fishing

Thanks man. When I first started checking into electronics I decided to get a Helix 5, then I talked myself into a Helix 7. After going to a boat store today and looking at screen size, etc... I was torn between the Helix 7 and Helix 9. After going back to my shop and looking online I saw that the Helix SI 9 and the Helix Mega SI 9 were the same price. I went back to the boat store and checked into it and there's were both the same price too and that price was $300 more than the Helix 7. It was sort of a no brainer after that. It's the nicest thing I've ever bought for myself that didn't have a motor on or in it. It will definitely help my son and I catch more fish, so that's what matters most. I'm looking forward to getting it put on and getting out on the water. I'm tasking my 15 year old son with learning how to use the Helix. What would take me a year will likely take him 30 minutes. LOL

I feel like I've come out the stone age since I had a Humminbird 535 on my old boat.

Very nice. It is always worth it for a bigger screen. But a bigger screen...AND mega.... that's going to make you real happy. Take your time and read up on how to do the best job installing it (wiring it to battery instead of boat wiring, avoid running wires close to trolling motor power wires, do not wire up to trolling motor batteries, getting the transducer mounted in the best location and properly leveling the transducer...) it can save you a lot of frustration down the road. But most of all.... enjoy it!!!

Nice. Now do you have to upgrade the ducer to the HD or did it come with it?

MEGA units (all sizes) already have the best available xducer in the box (MEGA xducer) ...

(previous HELIX 9 SI G1 did indeed come with the Compact SI xducer) ...

Thanks for the replies. I'm really excited about getting it on the water. Can someone give me advice on transducer location, on an aluminum boat with rivets? No Jack plate. I'm concerned that I don't have a good place for the transducer without obstructions...... I've been watching youtube videos and it mentioned rivets causing issues. Also, I don't know how I'm gonna clear the motor with the side imaging.....
