I have a Garmin 93sv sitting side by side with a HB 899 si. I would take the HB 899si 10 to 1 over the 93sv.

I had one and sold it. Main reason was due to mapping. The maps of the lakes I fish either weren't included or inaccurate at best. That said, the images it produces are decent. I posted a bunch on a thread in this forum a while back. If Garmin would offer a custom mapping option (ie Autochart, SonarChart), they would be more attractive. I have used Garmin, Lowrance, and HB. I am currently running an 1198 and 859 on my boat and it suits me well. The new larger Helix units are looking pretty attractive.

In terms of user friendliness, I found there was a lot more navigation to adjust the settings than compared to HB, but that said, he navigation was straightforward.

You wont be spending that much more money if any by going with the tried and true name brands. I love my birds I wouldn't change a thing, but alot of people love their lowrance. I will say this, Garmin seems to have good looking images but they haven't been in the hd graph game that long. I can see if they were saving me alot of money by experimenting with their product, then I may go that direction. But if its going to be "close" to the same price to get the guarenteed proven product, its a no brainer in my opinion. Go with the BIRD. You wont regret it!

The above post is just my opinion. Others may feel differently. Be good to hear pro's and con's from a lot of different people. Then make your decision. I hope I helped buddy.
