    Default Humminbird 899

Can anyone tell me if the quality should be better with the side imaging. Maybe I have some setting wrong but have played around with it while out on the water and not satisfied with what I am getting compared to other users screen shots.Name: S00006.jpg

The black horizontal lines in the SI images are an indication of aerated water ... Bubbles blocking the sound pulse...

Slow the boat down or re-Positon the xducer into cleaner bubble free water...

I would suggest opening the SI Enhance menu and adjust the SI Sensitivity frequently as the bottom composition changes...higher Sensitivity to brighten image - lower Sensitivity to darken image...

Yes using the 455 xducer that came with it. Do you guys think it is worth the upgrade?

gooseslayer I traded the transducer that came with my 899 and I believe the picture quality is quite a bit better than with the compact side transducer that came with the unit. I also purchased a da'ducer from rickie and put my hi def transducer on the front of the boat and saw a world of difference in the quality of the image. The da'ducer got the hi def down below my troll motor and it is about a foot under water so no problem with interference from anything on the boat. I just mentally add a foot to the depth showing on the depth reading. I don't think you will be disappointed in getting a hi def or getting the da'ducer from Rickie. Has anyone that has a 899, 999 had the 800 khz problem fixed by sending theirs in to humminbird for repair. Was just wondering.

Yep had mine fixed and the washout issue is gone using 800 kHz and I think I even get better images on 455 kHz than before. They did not even have mine for a week and it was back.

    Regards
