Default First time out with 998 si

Got on the water Tuesday for the first time with my new 998 SI unit, we were just out from Britton Ford on Ky lake and took a snapshot of a v bottom boat, came in that afternoon and put the sd card in my laptop to look at it and the cursor is on the pic, is there any way to remove it before taking the card out of the unit?

No. What is on the display of the unit is what will show up in the picture it takes.

I'm assuming you activated the cursor (and then maybe you also moved the cursor on top of the boat you had found)...but you are wanting to move the cursor off the boat (or off the screen) so as to not see the cursor in the image...

As Greg said...whatever is showing on the display will show on the snapshot image ....at the instant the "Mark" button is pressed to take a snapshot...(even menus if they are showing)...

There is no way to "edit" the image in the unit after it has been taken...(Although you can open the .PNG file image on the pc in a editing program such as "Paint" or "open Office Draw)....

To keep the cursor from being in the way on the image.....Either...:

*Take the snapshot "on the fly" without activating the cursor....

    or

*Activate the cursor to freeze the screen....and then move the cursor into a corner of the screen so as to not cover up anything important you want showing in the snapshot image...then press the "Mark" button to take the snapshot...

or have it recording and replay and take your screenshot with whatever you want on the screen.
