    Default Sunken barge

Too bad crappie don't like sunken barges....

I guess they're too scared of the huge catfish we catch here...

nice pic, is that the superstructure towards the bottom of the pic or something else? Still trying to get my pee brain around this stuff, but the pee just rolls round and round.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Hey Jimp.. That barge is laying flat on the bottom...

Try to imagine yourself hovering about 50 feet (maybe in a helocopter) above the boat looking straight down into the water...

You are looking right down thru the "open top" of the barge...

Does that help you understand what you are seeing...??

(Pm me if you need some 1 on 1 help interpreting what you are looking at in a SI image...)

Rickie, thanks for offer. Looking down like from a helicopter helps, I can see that now. So, in this pic, I'm seeing the "recessed" area or cargo area of the barge. The darker areas are the hull itself and the lighter area/stripe is the floor of the cargo area right ???

The wider really bright stripe is the outside of the left 10' tall barge side...it is brighter than the other parts of the barge because the the SI beam is hitting it at an angle from the side... My boat was to the left of the barge so the sonar pings hit the side of the barge and gave a good solid reflection...

The really dark area (just to the right of the wide bright stripe) is the cargo hold of the barge...because the SI beam hit the barge at an angle, the area to the right of the barge's tall side blocked the sonar ping from going past the barge's tall side...the dark area is basically a shadow created behind the barge's tall left side....

The thinner bright stripe just to the right of the darker cargo hold is the inner wall of the barge's right wall.. It is also brighter because of the angle that the SI beam hit it...

The darker area to the right of the thin bright stripe is the shadow created by the barge's tall right side ...

The rectangle at the bottom of the two bright stripes is the front flat deck of the barge where the barge cleats are welded to the front deck...(the cleats can actually be seen in the image on this rectanglar front deck to the left and right edge of the rectangular front flat deck of the barge....)

The white specks that are scattered across the the darker cargo hold are fish suspended over the barge...

Excellent description! That's the kind of information we're looking for. I'm trying to hold out for a higher end unit like a 998 or 1198 but I might have to start small and work up. Fixed income and need to do some home repairs first.
