IMHO: St. Johns River/watershed/lake system down here in Florida. Awesome fishery, awesome looking fish.

the summer time emerald green and black with a dash of blue here and there ones that come from far north are really pretty fish.
I imagine some waters up there have prettier fish than others but to be sure all the states produce fish similar somewhere in the state .
water clarity and stains and depths and other factors have lots to do with it.
we have several spots in Texas where they get really pretty .

Bobby Garland drove "17 hours", his words, to fish in the St. John's in Florida... Guess that would be a good place!

Come up north after your spawn down there is done. In May, you can’t beat the big black slabs on Pymatuning Lake here on the border of Ohio and Pennsylvania.
