For a couple years towed a 1000 lb 16’ w/25 hp loaded boat with Toyota Corolla and not a issue. I live in steep hill country also. Never had a issue on steep ramps either. Use your gears.

If using a 14’ and two people,,the more stable boat is a 1448 size. That has a 48” or larger width. 1436 with a 36” bottom can be alittle unstable in rough water.
