I had the same problem recently. Arcing only when everything disconnected except cable to the engine. It was the rectifier burned out. 115 Mercury also.

There are mounts built to attach to the side of boats that you then attach your trolling motor on to. Go to Amazon.com and type trolling motor side mounts in the search box.

Never mind, adapter kit was wrong. Correct one on the way......
