I picked up a mesh strainer that goes into your sink drain at Walmart for about $1. I put the strainer inside my funnel and pour the oil directly back into the jug.

I usually use 10lb PowerPro braid. It has a diameter of about 2-4lb mono and will usually straighten the hook on a jig.

The clearer the water, the deeper and darker you want the dock. I prefer enclosed boat houses because they generally provide more shade than open docks.
