I’ve never tried it with crappie but did with white bass. It made no difference that I could tell. It might be a good way to keep the live wells from getting so nasty.

That’s probably cheaper than you could get just hooks in most places.

Assuming that I get a 12’ B and M rod is a 1000 series spinning reel adequate to balance the weight. I have several 1000 size Shimano reels not mounted on rods.
