Yep. Ran a black body beetlespin. For the first 7 or so casts, I had a fish on every single one. Landed about 4-5 out of 7.

It sure is. I caught a bunch earlier in May, this one was from the same lake.

Got back from a trip abroad yesterday, and was in the mood to fish, so I decided to hit up a local lake today. Got some nice bluegills, a pumpkinseed, and a small bass.

Yes, they're a stocked hydrid. Good to eat, but not in season at this river.

CT is one of the only states on the east coast that stocks them, so you'd have to go to the Colorado area or come up here!

I can't edit my post. Braid definitely improved after the first trip. Casting distance is great, very few issues with line slap.

My braid experience was a lot better today. Only two casts where the line scraped against the rod. And the reel was amazing. Love it!

I love the reel, and I'm liking the braid. The number of issue Casts I've had has gone down a lot, so I think it just needed to wear in a bit. Will post pictures later, not at a place where I can...

I actually had that issue with lines before this one, so I didn't really mind. I'm used to removing weeds from my lure between casts, so straightening my line has become part of my pre-cast routine....

Reel seems great! Smooth drag, high quality feel, super smooth retrieve. Just not sure whether the line.

Do you use spinners often with good luck? I've never used spinners at all for anything, but if they catch fish it might be worth it.

For sure. The little guys would peck at it occasionally, the bigger ones would run from it. Also, the water was crystal clear, which didn't help with conditions.
