Okay thanks. Down works fine, but up is gone. I have to hold the up button while manually lifting the engine. The up still makes noise like it always has but goes nowhere.

My 40 horse Johnson (1998 or 1999 model I think....?) trim stopped going up and might need a rebuild. What are people charging roughly for a rebuild these days?
