    I did a lot of saltwater fishing in the past,always washed truck and boat afterwards.The design of the hitch allows water to get on the inside of tubular part of hitch.Rusted it from inside out

    Check you hitch

    If you have ever put your boat in saltwater inspect your hitch.Saltwater is rough on metal.Checked mine and it was rusted through.Could have lost my boat very easily .
