Have a place in Okeechobee, but wife's parents live in Spring Hill/Hudson. Always thought I'll drag the boat up sometime just for a change of pace.

Lots of minnow fishing in the river and some canals. I prefer to single (or 2 pole) jig in the thick stuff. Some guys spider rig in the river or troll. I think you can catch them any way you wish.

Aren't too many slips on the Big O, if you've never been. Most places to stay are outside the levy. KOA is close to the lake, but not on the water, like most other places.

I bought the mold, #2 hooks or larger wouldn't fit without modification. I milled out where the hook bends are, it was too long on a #2, works well now.
