tried some 20lb. fly line backing for bobber stops. it measures .020 dia.
works perfect!
i keep it on spool. i cut a short piece off, and just tie it on the fishing line with a uni-knot.

is a 4 wrap whip finish enough not to have to use glue ?

i use Gorilla super glue for most my ties. i like the option of using a kicker or accelerator
to instant cure the glue.
i like to have a applicator with a needle point to apply the glue....

isn't that the only way it would ride ?

myself, i would go with aberdeen hook and cinch it tight to the line with a palomar knot. small soft plastics have a great horizontal presentation/action then.

in windy cond. i use 1/2 - 5/8 oz. weight.

for flies tied to a dropshot rig, and think a straight eye on a hook works much better then a jig style hook.
a jig is going to hang weird...
