imo pinnacle limits are fine for longlining.... but get quality rods for tightlining the cheap rods have too limber tips and will bounce way more than quality rods, and where i fish bass fisherman...

All my long lining rods for the rear of the boat are cheap rods...pinnacle and academy sports brand, 10' down to 5' If someone goes with me I fish off the sides of the front deck and put partner out...

You are gonna have to make it unpleasant for him to encourage him to stay away..run an ext cord out to boat and put a motion activated spot light under the boat cover...better yet get one of those...

motor wouldnt start with those numbers...at least not with out ether, I would verify the gauge works properly, then recheck with throttle plates open.
