i am just learning about crappie fishing and really was curious about the long rods that were available at bps/cabelas Fished for panfish forever but never crappie. Found some lakes recently...

Curious as to what rods people are using and if you all have experience with telescoping rods for crappie.

Skip no need for cutters. I just use a straight edge and a razor knife Scissors if you want to taper. Pretty simple ties.

395829395830The slider has no lip. And it darts under the surface when stripped quickly, it will pop back up at rest. The gurgler with its big lip will make a pop when pulled in hard short strips....

Oh Ok, how are they rigged? Jig head thru fat side or bare hook with a sliding weight (like texas rig)

Look up gurgler and slider patterns on youtube.

You can tie them up small Fun fishing top water, cut the lip off and they dive then rise to surface. Trigger lots of fun strikes

I tie these up in a variety of sizes and colors.

I met jack many years ago and was lucky enough to take some tying classes from him before he got ill. Quite the character, amazing tyer. Sad we lost so much knowledge when he passed.

What is the gram weight of 1/124 oz? A local maker was curious. He had never worked with jigs this small

Tin bismuth is 3/4 the weight of lead so 1/100 oz would work if i could get a mold that size would work for me.

I know they are making jigs out of tin but need to locate these in 1/124. Id buy a mold if i could get my hands on one that small.

I live in the northeast and they went and banned lead weights and jigs in fresh water. Is anyone making lead free micro jig heads. I want to make some cap spiders.
