I would vertical jig it. You could tie on a double jig rig and let it pendulum down to the fish. I would also tie on one of the bobber stops to help mark the depth of your jigs.

Go in and turn the sonar off on the Hummingbird unit. No need to have the sonar on if you are just using the Hbird for maps.

I did catch one crappie out of that group of fish. I saw some gar hitting the surface near the boat that day as well so I am thinking it may have been gar. Some of those shapes were elongated.

I was curious whether this massive school is baitfish. In the first pic you can see some bigger predatory fish. I dropped some jigs in the school with no luck so I'm guessing baitfish.

Was out sidescanning for fish and saw this school of fish. I marked a waypoint on the sidevu then switched over to downvu to go get a better look. These fish were stacked!
