i bought my 7sv 3 years ago, it was a refurbished unit. it did the same thing as your sv is doing, found out it was set on the wrong transducer. I can't remember where I found the setting for it but...

I leave mine on the boat all the time, the three plugs fit tight don't want to take chance on loosening them by plugging and unplugging everytime I go fishing

I had the same thing happen to mine, it was a loose wire that hooks to the armature commutator. I found the loose wire and soldered it, still working after three years.
