I lean towards the tight to cover theory. Not saying that’s always the scenario tho. The other part I believe could be important is not to forget that the lake bottom is also cover in a way for fish...

Lol! Pappy….I agree with you but honestly never tried an underspin in cold water but I will soon. The hair jig is a good idea I believe. You say regular jig, you mean one w/o a blade, correct? I know...
