Soft. I've played with harder lead and at times, it won't fill out the molds correctly. FatGuys Fishing molds...not do-it.

Have seen color, size, profile, etc matter with blackfish, especially clear water, but with whites, they'll bite dang near anything they see I think. Not talking about upper end, older year-class...

I use "budget brand" lithiums and they work fine for me. Zero issues.

VMC 9147BZ Cheap, stupid sharp, and haven't had any major QC issues. Maybe 5 hooks per 1000 may have a defect.

When people buy from me without a reference photo, I tell them give me a head/body/tail color. Some colors I have MULTIPLE shades of, and I'll narrow it down a bit from there.

It's fishable. Just curious, why the worry over it being muddy? I've fished it when you could've planted corn in it, and still caught fish. I prefer muddy, 4" visibility at most.
