We were going to drive down this Friday and fish this weekend but weather on Saturday is looking like a possibility of downright dangerous. Sunday - first half of the week looks good, which is right on the full moon (26th). Gonna probably go to Stumphole and look for 'em. Being from western NC I don't really know much about the rest of the lake other than Poplar Creek area. I really haven't heard any first-hand reports of what's happening right now with the Shellcrackers.

It should be getting good. I think the wife and I are going to try them and do some catfishing this weekend.

Well the last two days (Sun-Mon) have been pretty much a bust. Been a few caught but 10-15 is about as many as we’ve seen. And that for a long day. Mostly catching in the “logjam” at Stumphole and I’ve heard of some at Low Falls. Otherwise, near as I can discern its disappointingly slow.

That is correct, fishing for most shallow type fish has been slow. Folks have been questioning Santee Coopers constant grass spraying. One question was does the grass spraying effect spawning fish? Their reply was” we can not state that it doesn’t harm spawning fish and their fry” That tells me that it most likely does. Losing a year or two of any spawning class will put the lake in a downward spiral for years to come. I believe we are seeing the results of the spraying now starting.

Yes my thoughts exactly we started alligator hunting 8 years ago then was no spraying.
What can be done about it?

And if you had a weed issue around your private dock on public water, and started spraying something that will kill the weeds but with unknown effects on spawning fish, invertebrates, waterfowl, water quality, etc. They'd shut you down immediately and throw in some hefty fines for good measure.
