Just pulling jigs up to 1/8th's I like the Optic 20's for cheap reels. I spool all mine with 6# line.
I want to buy some spinning reels and pull some crankbaits .
I see many here longline for crappie.
I want spinning reels..Any specific reel you like ?
Also, what # line do you spool with?
Thanks

If you are serious about pulling cranks you really need to invest in some line counter reels. Line out is very important to pulling cranks and there is a lot of force going to the reels. Something in the line of these
Okuma Magda Pro Line Counter Reels DX Series & DL
Using braid is another plus with a good ball barring swivel ahead of the cranks. Pulling cranks isn't cheap but can be very fun and rewarding.

to get started, just use your regular spinning reels, but mark the line so you know how much is out
lay it out in the yard and mark 50, 75, and 100 feet
I like the pflueger reel
if it takes, invest in some reel counters

About all I do is pull cranks for crappie during the summer months. I bought 5 of the black max baitcasters and run 20 lb kastking braid on them. If I get hung I can usually pull it loose. Was loosing too many cranks with 8 lb mono. I pull little bandits mostly but have also found that those cheap crankbaits at bps in the middle of the isle in those bins for like $1.98 work great at half the price. I have probably 200 baits. If I was going to run spinning, get the shamano 1000R or 2000R. They are only about $15. I have probably 20 on my long rods and hardly ever have any issue. I use to pull cranks with those. If you have any questions pm me. I have learned a lot from a lot of mistakes. lol. Picking the right lake is as important as anything. Some like tillery are just not good crank lakes.
