Have an 898c Humminbird . Somehow cable got cut going to from head to transponder. Can I splice it back or need new transponder. Do all the wires need back together or are some not used ? Also the foil wrap around them need fixing?

I had the same problem with a Lowrance, I was able to splice the wires and wrap in foil then taped. my splice is not in the water, it is worth trying before buying a new transducer
Is ir for a TM or hull mount?

John you could use heat skink to make it water prof. Maybe put two layers second piece longer than the first.

You can splice. Cut longer piece of wire back so you have extra foil. Best if you can solder the connections. Tape each wire, then wrap with extra foil. Place thin coat of silicone around area, cover with heat shrink, and shrink. Much cheaper than $200! You should have no issues!
