    Default scent on trout bait?


    does anyone use scent on powerbait or worms?

    I use Cod Liver Oil on Mopp flies when the bluegills have lock-jaw. So yes, sorta.

    I never found adding scent to a fly for trout helped. However I have added vanilla to honey bugs for carp and it helps. However you get 3 or 4 cast then it is not effective. I put it in a 35 mm film canister and soak the dry fly in it then sight cast. Carp have turned around from a foot or two to take the fly.

    A honey bug us a fly made with cotton chenille wrapped around the hook. Somewhat like a mop fly. This fly has been around for over 60 years.

    in your part of the world scented baits are deadly , power baits and such make hatchery trout go bananas for sure , this is fact

    I usually use a PowerBait egg when casting on the White River.
