Default Salmon steelhead runs in the great lakes

It appears most if not all Great Lake fish runs are on time or even running a little earlier then in the past few years. Pa has experienced above normal rain falls so the steelhead run is a few weeks early to say the least. I will start posting on the Pa web portion current information for those who are interested in 2 weeks. I hope everyone enjoys the runs and be safe. We currently have 7 different friends infected with covid and many of the local central Pa hospitals are maxed out and have long waiting times for emergency care. Please be careful in all your activities.

I got to fish Elk Creek in Pa for steelhead 12/15 - 16. The weather was warm and plenty of fish in the stream. I caught a few nice steelhead and saw some browns. One Brown that was caught was around 8 lbs. Watch the weather and USGS gauges and give it a try. Different egg patterns and heavier weighted streamers seem to take some fish.
