This unusually warm spring brought my first trip up a few weeks earlier than in the past. The wind picked up from the Southeast, but heading into it along with the sun made for a comfortable troll. Dropped lines at 110` and had our first hit at 140`. I ran a mixture of spoons off the slide divers and riggers, along with the usual "00" orange dodger/small flies behind the boards. Nothing hot and heavy to report about, did find it odd that I had 3 coho hit on a magnum Pro King Bumble-bee?? Had that out there for the Kings, the 12# king we did land took one of the new Stinger UV Green Dolphins down 30' with 3 colors of lead. Took a nice size laker down 130` on a blue dolphin Super Slim. Ventured out to 185` and turned as the bite slowed, the wind wasn`t letting up and the warmth of the sun was interrupted by clouds. No real pattern to go by, just about every rod took a hit, ended up with 14 or 15 ( too cold to take my shoes off to aid in the count), missing 4. Did mark some clouds of bait off the bottom, but only found a 4" alwieve in the king, and some 1 1/2"-2" bait, too far gone to disinguish, in the laker. When cleaning the cooler it looked like June bugs, beetles of some kind, that must have been coughed up by the coho. I have to admit, most of the coho we caught were a decent size for this early in the season. Thumbs Up You always relize you forgot something after you leave the dock... yesterday it was my camera...
