    Default BRC Rods

Does anyone here use this place? I found it one Ebay and later learned there was an online store as well. I have made several orders from them and things always went well. I made a small order from them back in mid May, a rod tip I had forgotten to include in the previous order. I received a confirmation email when I placed the order. After a week with no shipping confirmation I sent an email asking if my order had shipped. I got a quick answer with an apology explaining that his online inventory was incorrect, and they didn't have the tip I had ordered. over two more emails we agreed on a replacement, same item different size so no price change. a couple of days later I get a shipping notification. Three days later the tracking updates that they have the item and it is on it's way. Package shows up with invoice/packing slip showing corrected item but wrong item in the envelope. I make pics and send him another email. Another quick reply with an apology and stating that he would send the correct item and asked me to return the wrong one. I agreed and asked it would get another shipping notice and tracking number so I could be watching for my tip. I never got a reply to that question or any of the three inquiries as to whether or not my tip had shipped yet that I have sent since then. Through this whole ordeal the guy that this rod is for is being very patient but is getting frustrated, he has a good chunk of money invested in this rod. At this point, I am just trying to find out if he is still in business, on vacation, sick or what?? Has anyone received an order from them in the last month? I am not mad, I would like to know what has happened.

I’m not going to comment on what happened already but I have dealt with mudhole for a few years now and they’re as good as I could hope for. Give them a call and you might get what you need pretty quick.

I had ordered a guide set from his website recently. No shipping for a week. Emailed… no response. Then I left him a voice mail early last week. He called back after several hours, apologized, and said that he will mail the order asap. I got the guides set on Saturday.

Have a lot of experience with Mudhole. They are prompt with shipping and my over all customer service experience has been very positive. The issue is that the BCC fella had some components that Mudhole doesn’t carry.

This thread had slipped my mind. I do have a follow up. I never got any type of response from him (them?) at all. I contacted Paypal, attached the email chain between BRC and myself and pics of what I was sent along with the purchase order. I had a refund in about an hour. That was all well and good but I still did not have the tip I needed to finish the rod. I reached out to Voodoo and he did not have one in stock and said they were back ordered everywhere. He was super helpful by the way and I can't recommend him enough. I did find a reasonable substitute tip at Mudhole, good enough to make the owner of the rod very happy. I know the tip doesn't match and it bothers me a great deal but as long as he is happy. I do use Mudhole quite a lot, they just lack some, actually all, of the higher end items for ultralight builds. I wish they would offer more for the UL builder. I think the BRC guy uses a very poor commerce host for his website and it allowed sales of stock that was not available and it caught up to him.

I couldn’t agree more. They would do a whole lot better if they carried high end components for UL builds.

I’ve never built a rod with super light components so I’d be just talking if I did. I did recently buy a rod from one of the sales people that was built on a tip section replacement blank that was given to them to play with. The rod is the lightest I own and at 4’3” also the shortest. What I noticed was that the guides are the smallest I’ve ever seen. I use 2lb Nanofil a lot and this rod didn’t have my expectations very high when I bought it cuz it’s much stiffer than any of my other rods so it doesn’t load much on the backcast. I bow the rod and shoot up under branches which is also kind of tough with the stiffness, but it’s an accurate thing while doing this. Point is that these components are very different and much smaller than any I’ve ever used and their performance has been very good. If I get back there I’ll take the rod with me and find out more about them.
