For butt/fore/rear grips what are you using? The sea guide reel seats sure look nice. I used the ul fuji sk split grip that I think weighed 13 grams and no connecting tube.

I have a couple of options to consider for the grip. I could go without fore and rear grip using the SK2 reel seat. Only using Fuji WCS winding checking which I ordered in 7 mm. Will fill the gap between the winding check and blank using thread and finishing epoxy. I also have the option to use 2” Matagi inset, but I’m not sure right now if I will go that route with the SK2 reel seat.

If I use the Sea Guide reel seat I will make a fire and rear grip using cork rings. Will shape using the power wrapper and sandpaper. Will shape it more like a winding check than a fore and rear grip. So it’s going to be thin.

For the butt I have order Matagi butt caps. Will make the rear grip either out of cork or EVA. Also, might add some weight to it for balancing.

How do you balance your builds? Mine typically turn out a little tip heavy (not by much though). I was checking the balance with my Presso Air AGS 5’10” XLU with the 21 Presso and it tilts more toward the butt. That works out well because I cast and retrieve the jig with the tip pointing up.

I will certainly post once done. Fishing has been terrible of late. The trout streams get stocked in Mar. So, I should have both ready sometime this month. Might not be able to get them to be as light as your builds, but aiming for under 50 grams.

The twa 662 solid tip seems a little whippy to me, is the HM tubular tip a stiffer rod?

Yes, the solid tip one is a little whippy. Also, seen the same on several YouTube videos. Though the recovery is fast. Haven’t check the tubular tip blank. Will update once I do so. No YouTube videos on this blank.
