Where do you guys find ideas for wrapping patterns . Do you just create your own ? I have been looking ,evidently in the wrong places , and I dont see many examples . So I figured I would ask here .

I used to use a software called Visual Wrap until I memorized all the patterns I liked. The software will show each pattern in whatever colors you chose in a time sequenced format. The time sequence can be either speed up or slowed down. The software is still available.

I learned a lot on YouTube. Watch a lot and judge which ones work well for you, and not all of them will. I’m kinda easy to please and don’t get too extravagant. Pay attention to applying the coating without bubbles and you’ll need a slow turner or drier. Keeps the epoxy from sagging. I made mine with a motor from a microwave oven turntable motor. Works fine and almost silent.

Thanks guys I was afraid it might have been a silly question lol. I have looked and looked and saw very few complete rods ie: the guides and the lower section . I didnt care so much just for my use but when your making one for someone else you care a lot more . I will check into the software and keep searching youtube . BTW Crappie Wrangler I have watched your video series 3 times now its outstanding !

Billy Vivona wrote an easy to understand book, last I looked it was still being sold at Mudhole and other rodbuilding websites. Been out 10+ years so it may be found used also. Think my copy was $30. Lots of patterns, well worth the money.

Don't start out doing closed patterns and work up to them, start with the simple open patterns, get a feel for it.

Some of those certainly look time consuming

They are very time consuming but some are easier than others, such as Diamond wrap . On the other side of the coin when you see some of these wraps theyvhave that WHOW factor lol. Then it turns into a mountain that you need to climb . All in all its fun and actually quite affordable also it keeps me off the streets .
