I have the same blank but need to prioritize finished it. Reel award and guides need to go on. Will be using fuji stainless steel SiC slim KR concept. Hopefully it’s a sensitive rod.

What do you use it for? Jigging? Beetlespin? Spinners? Float?

Hi, I had to go out and count them, usually use 4 but this was a longer rod so I added an xtra runner. I think this is a fuji reel seat but painted by Matagi. I like the colors better than the fuji.

I have wondered that about the Matagi seats. How was your experience ordering from NFC? I have never done business with them but I like the lineage of their blanks.

I use it for jigging lake trout vertically in 70-140’. I like the longer rod to keep the fish away from motor + it has a nice parabolic bend to protect ultra thin braid. I caught several 10-20 lb fish in July.

I live in Woodland so I just go down and get the blanks. Repeat customers, at times, get big discounts (60% off). I wanted to try a Suzuki blank but at $150 vs $50 for NFC, hard to do. I did get 2 matagi blanks from VooDoo rods because minimal shipping cost and they were the lightest blanks I could find. Finished rods were 1.1 and 1.2 oz.

They had most of the website at 50% and free shipping until recently. It stayed that way for a couple of months. That’s when I bought this blank.

I am guessing it has to be pretty sensitive to feel the bites at that depth.

    10 - 20 lbs fish! Sounds sweet.
