Default 7’ 2 piece UL talon tubular tip prefinished wt 37 grams

Putting together one more rod using a talon blank (with veteran discount 30 % + local PU) cost $35, quite a bargain. Talon said they use a higher modulus now in their tips to make blanks lighter, 21 grams.Finished rod should weigh about 44 grams or 1.5 oz.

That’s a light rod! I’d have to fish one a minute but I’m sure I’d fall in love and have to have one. I have an older lightning rod in medium action that I love for fishing 1/16 and such, but it’s got some weight to it. I’ve caught bass to about 4 pounds and stripers to 18” on it so it’s also versatile. I’ve got to rebuild it as time has it looking scruffy. I feel the difference in weight when I first pick it up. Weight definitely matters.

I also have to ask what kind of guides you’re using? They look like they weigh nothing. Thanks.
