    Hi
    Thanks for all the help.
    Question:
If you shorten a rod from the butt, does this somehow actually stiffen the action/sensitivity?
    Thanks again

Depending on how much you take from the butt end your going to be taking back bone away if your moving the reel seat towards the tip. I would never cut the tip of a rod but that would stiffen a rod. The way I see it is, if you want a stiffer blank then find a blank that fits the bill your looking for.

The rod is 6'6" and i think 6ft would be better.
    Thanks

IMHO, a 6’6” rod is a very versatile length. I use a 5’6”a lot and a 6’ not far behind, but I always have a 6’6” in the boat. The one that comes to mind is my jig and float rod but it’s rigged with 4lb and can do many different tasks. Tight quarters the shorter rods get the nod, but casting to brush or downed trees is game on for the longer rod. Good luck with the decision.

What are you actually trying to accomplish? Fixed/adjustable/tennessee reel seat? Building a rod? Details ma man? I suggest anybody that wants opinion via a chat type format, be overly descriptive in whatever your need is. Jus sayin'...
