Default Flyrod blank becomes jigging pole?

    Anyone ever do this?

Brett, I was raised with a fly rod and a spinning reel. I caught many crappie, jigging with my fly rod. I still own it. a 8/9' 5/7wt is the ticket for me. I got the rods when I was 6yrs old, I am 72 now. I still fly fish.

I’ve built a few on them. It’s hard to find a “jigging blank”. And the options you can get in a fly blank work really well for a jig pole. Only thing is I would build it to look like as close to a fly rod as possible. If you build anything on a fly blank that is not a fly rod it voids the warranty.

Just buy a cheap fly rod. No need to get the blank and "make" a jigging pole out of it, IMO.

As trypman said, long before there were "jigging poles", people used fly rods.

Seen lots of folks put a small spinning reel on a fly rod and let her rip.

I was debating using my fly rod for a jigging pole and getting a small ultralight for panfish but found the exact setup I was originally looking for all in one package which is a Shakespeare Crappie Hunter. 9'. But i still vertical jig flies into brush and stuff for panfish. I suck at casting haha!!

I have a 9 ft white river fly rod I bought a few yeas ago on a super sale at BPS. It is 9 wt. little heavy action but works great as a jig pole. Use one of those little plastic reels on it. Very lite and fairly sensitive.
