    Default “The Baba Yaga”

Between working and I’ve been trying to keep up with my inshore rod builds for people I haven’t had time to to build this puppy. Well I’m waiting on some orders to keep cranking out the inshore builds I have. It gives me a day or 2 to get it mostly built since I’m waiting on the decal. This is the build I was talking about with parts from Japan, the blank is a custom order 7ft xtra ultra light carbon fiber / graphite mix from Japan with a 1 to 5 lb line and a 1/80 to 1/16oz lure rating. Needless to say a crappie is going to feel like a whale on this thing. Since I haven't got to build a rod for myself in a good while even my bfs rod was literally tricked right out of my hands lol. Since this rod is not for sale, I’m building this one to the extreme. I’m going with Fuji titanium / torzite guides a SK reel seat and carbon fiber grips. The only name I can think of that is appropriate for this build is “The Baba Yaga”. Because this things going to be one wicked crappie rod.

Got her wrapped up and built a crappie.com lurker a crappie bfs rod. The bfs rod is on the drier and will be sent out Tuesday and I’m just waiting on the decal to finish my rod. It’s such a satisfaction pulling the last thread lol.

Both of those look nice, and light beyond my knowledge. My fly rod still feels odd it’s so light, so I can imagine what a 2oz spinning rod would be. Thanks for the show and tell, I always enjoy them. I have my low budget spinning rod to get going on. Bought a handle but don’t like it, might mean a trip to Mudhole tomorrow afternoon. Torzite huh.........

The build looks great. Which Japanese company makes the blank?

In this thread I mentioned the only Japanese blanks I could find were Suzuki blanks made by Richards. I never got to building on the blank.

If you found another Japanese rod blank maker I'd like to know.

Your lucky to be right down the street from mud hole. Lol I would be broke. We have fishing tackle unlimited in Houston but 3/4 of the time they don’t have what I need and I have to order it from mud hole.

I have ave a buddy that builds super high end off shore rods and he got the blank from his vender in Japan for me.

If it's not too much trouble, could you please get the vendor name from your friend?

I love the carbon fiber grips on your build. I use full length carbon fiber grips and Aero reel seat for my spinning rods. I have a bit of arthritis. A fuller reel seat and handle are more comfortable for me to hold.

My buddy won’t tell me where he got the blank from he just said you ever want one just let him know lol. After all I don’t blame him for keeping his venders close but sorry I couldn’t be more help on that’s one.

Thanks for trying Gbcorley. I'm curious how the rod will perform.
