Default We Talk About The Art

Of building a rod. My view is that of a rookie, and my work shows it. By the same token, the work of a craftsman also shows through. Iím lucky to be able to visit Mudhole in Oviedo, Fl and pick up my supplies rather than ship. Several perks come with that. One is that you see the work of some other Rodsmiths and get tips on a more personal level from the folks that work there and have varying degrees of experience. As in a tackle shop, the desire to gather stuff and take it home also overcomes you. So far, Iím not doing too bad leaving a lot of stuff behind.

As I said, you get to see some of the local work. I took a. Few pics today and wanted to share them with yíall. These arenít all that was there. And some of the others had some handle work that was very outside the box and well done. It has been many years since i saw a rod with a wood handle. Saw a few today and it was no average, straight grained 2X4. Very nice. Anyway, hereís the pics. I hope you enjoy them and maybe they give some ideas for a future project.

Speaking of art, here's a local bamboo builder:
