What kind of guides did you use? Need to get a set for my upcoming light 6’ spinner and I am leaning towards the smaller ring higher frame that I’m seeing a lot of lately.

The ones I think your talking about are the Fuji k high frame. That’s the ones I’ve been using. I have to finish 2 rods for people and I just ordered some special stuff from japan to build me a super high end rod.

Looked at the catalog last night and I think that I’ll be going with the airwaves guides without the insert to cut down on weight. I get a good cast with most every rod I have, even the cheap ones. I’d like to see if the airwaves are going to live up to the hype.

Sounds good been a while since I built one with airwave. If your talking about not using the first striping guide insert, I would because thats what makes the guide set work as them clam. There is almost no weight saving to running a standard guide. if you want to run a standard first guide just look at concept guide " Rapid reduction step down to a runner in 3 or 4 guides like the Airwave" sets and do size 4 or 5 runners. I don't know how much your wanting to spend to cut down weight, but look at the fuji titanium torzite, just be perpard for your jaw it hit the floor when you see the cost lol

I like the Airwave guides. Both the Leland Troutmaster Rod and the Lews Speedshooter have them.
