    Default Get bit speckled perch

Has anyone tried the 10 or 12 foot speckled perch blanks? I've got one that I'm going to play with but I'm waiting on parts to get here. So I'd love to hear other's outcome.

Its going to be used for dipping and slip bobber mainly, it's got a casting seat and fairly big guides so the bobber stop doesnt hang in the guides or tip, I used split grips which I think is a mistake on my part, it's a pretty heavy blank anyway and there wont be hardly any weight behind the reel. But hopefully it won't be too front heavy. We'll see

Is the but cap part of the bottom of the split grip" built as one part or is it two parts"? if its not before you epoxy it on you can add weighted trim bands or rig something up to help balance it out. I have seen people put flexcoat inside the rod and put BB's in the tip of the butt of the rod. Not how I would do it but sometimes you have to do what makes it work.

What kind of guides and how many are running. Any time I'm building a rod I know will be used for a slip float or using bigger braid to leader (more bass and saltwater) I like to use recoil guides. You can get away with a much lighter and smaller guide. they also don't have a eye inside the frame for the slit knot to bust out.

It's a winn one piece fighting butt, I may try something to help balance it s little, I'm using 12 crb casting guides plus tip. So far it looks really good we'll just see how it performs
