I noticed also a benefit to the under wrap when putting the over wrap that it does not have the tendency to slip as much and stay put when placed next to the previous round of wrap...Thank you for the time and effort you are putting into showing us the methods you use, and how well things can come out.
It had been my pleasure. I have always enjoyed building fishing rods but realistically I enjoy everything about fishing. I make most of my own lures and pour my own hooks and have even restored several boats. I’m in the middle of a Ranger restore project right now. One of my albums is chronicling that project. I appreciate your kind words.
Redge, DwightP980 LIKED above postJamesdean thanked you for this post
Any time CrappieWrangler, Just speaking/ writing from the heart man. I don't pour my own jigs, I usually buy them by the hundred. However I do powder paint them, and have dabbled with tying my own jigs. I haven't built my first fishing rod yet, but have built a complete set of golf clubs from pieces ordered from Golfsmith in Tx. but that was a long time ago. And I am currently rebuilding a Late 50's, early 60's RichLine 14' aluminum V-bottom on a &0's Tow Mate trailer, See "Let the restore begin" thread on the Missouri Board. I picked up a '61 Evinrude Fastwin 18 that I had a mechanic go through and he has it good for another 60 yrs of running. So I can understand the going in several directions at once. Thank you again. As soon as I get this boat done I'll be going back through all this as a refresher and start on a set of rods that will work for some crappie....Looking forward to more installments here and a great looking rod when you have it finished.
Wrangler, I've never seen anyone finish a wrap like that above the eye. Do you have a specific reason why you do it that way?
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
