I need thrusters fore and aft with global positioning like those big dredge boats.

sideshooting is what I call it jamesdean and do you occasionally plunk into the dock itself? Sure and sometimes it doesn't go. but if you get on top of opening and only dangle a short bit o line and flick your pole underneath you can often hear where it ends up and I have gotten so good I can shoot it all the way thru the dock at times or hear it hit at other side. it's not brain surgery as he says practice makes you good and when you start ketchn bigger ones than those on other parts of dock you keep at it till you master it.

As the old commercial said "try it, you'll like it". LOL it is incredibly productive as most of the crappie on that dock are underneath it. And if you have been on a boat with side imaging or LS you have seen that.

BTW I use a 5 to 6 foot older rod of mine and have had to replace tip on it couple of times. But those are cheap and easy to do so it's absolutely worth it.

here locally it is not unheard of to see all sorts of things to slow down dock shooters ....
one spot is rigged with automatic sprinklers that are motion sensitive and will flat out wet you down good .
another one has hog panels hung off it around the perimeter .
some have cables across the outside behind the boats as well .
and then some just have either a big mean ole fella and or a big bad boy dog that will make ya want to move on ....
heck one time the darn whatever big as a small pony dog jumped in the boat with us !
bought wet myself that trip , thank goodness he was all show and was friendly once he came aboard ...
his approach said otherwise and he looked like he was gunna eat someone ...
some kind of mastiff mix ....
