Idaho crappie
I'd have posted in the state forums, but there doesn't seem to be one for Idaho. I moved to Boise last year, and up until last month hadn't had a chance to do much fishing. I had to wait until April to get my resident fishing license anyway. The crappies are entering the spawn phase at C.J. Strike, but I was wondering if there were any waters holding crappies that are closer to Boise as C.J. is about 75 miles away.
Just a suggestion here, but would it be possible to reorganize the regional fishing forums? Some states have a lot of posts, but others have barely any. Maybe instead of a looong list on the main forum, have sections like Pacific Northwest, Southwest, Midwest, Northeast, South and then have the states that have a lot of traffic as sub forums under the region? It would look a lot neater, be better organized, and have a place to post for every state.

That's probably because Idaho is know for salmon and trout.
I used to go to Boise for work about 5 years ago. Cool town!! You can fish for big old rainbows right there in town on the river. You will catch a bunch!! Head north a bit an dcatch the killer coho's !!!!

Shoemoo- Il live in Mtn. Home and fish CJ strike a lot. Yesterday my fishing partner and friend caught over a hundred crappie. I was born and raised in Boise I am 70 years old. Lots of the ponds in Boise and around Boise all have fish. Barber Park has fish. State street Ponds has Bass and Crappie. Caldwell ponds has great crappie fishing. I could go on and on. Try some of these mentioned. Good luck.

True, but Washington is even more known for salmon and trout, and there's a Washington forum. ;)
Don't care for trout much myself, unless they have some size to them and aren't just put and take stockers.
There's ponds that are supposed to hold bass and bluegill that are closer to Boise, but I'm not sure if any of them also hold crappie.

Thanks for the suggestion Ken. I've been out to C.J. a few times over the past month, but I don't have access to a boat, so I'm limited to fishing from shore. I did go out to C.J. at the Cottonwood Campgrounds on Saturday afternoon and caught about 40, mostly after the sun went down. Kept 25 cause that was all I wanted to clean, gave the rest away.
I'll check out the local ponds when I don't want to make the long drive.

Hey Ken looks like you have another crappie fisherman up your way. It's good of you to share your vast knowledge of the fishing in the area.
