Does eye color matter?

Took the wife Friday and Sat. afternoon.She put it on me bad.Was more interested in her catching than me.She hasn't been as much as I have.She landed her biggest to date. 1 lb 12 ounces.Several in the 1 1/2 class.We had a total of 30 fish.She was fishing a chartruece jig with a black eye.Had some chartruece with a red eye but they would not hit it.All tipped with minnow.Never noticed eye color before but that was the only difference.All of these fish were females and had spawned out.They were in 8' of water on the first break from the bank.They were scattered and biting very slow.May have been coincidence but I have my doubts.Anyone else ever had this happen?
