Headed to Lake Gaston in North Carolina in the morning

My 13 yr. old son Tanner qualified for the B.A.S.S. Jr. Southern Divisional.
He won the B.A.S.S. Tennessee State Tournament last August on Old Hickory.

We are staying at the Stonehouse Timber Lodge through Saturday.
He has a practice day Thur. and fishes for the goods on Friday.

I'm a diehard Crappie fisherman but I have enjoyed The Bass fishing we do.
It's a great experience for a kid and his parents as well.

Bass Pro in Memphis presented Tanner with a 300.00 gift card last week http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...GregBumpus.jpg so he already feels like a winner!

Congratulations Tanner you are allready a winner for sure to have parents that will support you in fishing and the great outdoors.

Well we just got back home from Lake Gaston. Tanner pulled off a win in some very tough conditions.
At launch there were thunderstorms in the area and when the front passed about nine there were 20 to 30 mph wind with 40 mph gust.

Tanner managed to catch 3 fish that weighed 4 lb 11 oz. Next up is the Jr. Bassmaster World Championship this October on the Harris Chain in Florida.

That's awesome. Had a friend of mine do the same sort of thing in his youth. He was good enough to turn pro, but opened a tackle shop and the rest is history. Hope your son does well. It is all about the desire. Congrats on the win!
