I just purchased two additional seat mounting plates to put on the front deck of my boat so two of us can sit up front. Last year my partners were complaining that I wouldn't let any fish by for them to catch in the back of the boat.:D
My question is, what is a good spacing between seats?

I got around that by just placing two folding camp chairs on my front deck last weekend. Worked like a charm. :D
I have mine on my Horizon 1860 as far apart as I could get them without feeling like I was sitting on the very outside edge of the boat. I have 3 bases set equal distance apart across the deck. The outside bases are only used for spider rigging.
My solution for fishing partners who complain about my boat or how I fish is generally to get new partners. Works like a charm for me.
and so you will be able to swivel to the inside and get to the back of the boat. Otherwise it's a matter of preference.
Mine are 30" apart from center of each outside pedistal. I would put them as far apart as you can without making the seat stick out over the side of the boat.
take 2 5-gallon buckets and set them on the front deck. Then get your usual fishing buddy to get in the boat with you and both of you sit on the buckets and adjust them so you are comfortable. then measure from the center of both buckets and that will be what you need for your boat.
