Port St. Joe
We went down to Port St. Joe back in September and wore out the small sharks, but did catch anything else. We are looking at going back towards the end of March or in April, is there going to anything running close to shore around that time? We are mainly freshwater fisherman but are really liking the salt water fishing. Can any of you give us some advice on where, what to fish for and what bait to use. We rented a boat last time without a guild could only fish the bay area. Are looking at taking some of our friends and their big boats this time just don't know where to go? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its Good
Pt St. Joe Bay has some really good Spec Trout fishing as well as reds and depending on the time of the year cobia and spanish some times make a quick trip in ... going out in the Gulf that time of the year is time for the Cobia run if you have not done this fishing I would advise a guide for a trip or 2 (for the inshore trout & reds as well) ... on the beach (on Cape San Blas side) you can surf fish for Pompano which will be making there run along with the cobia ... Gulf fishing (bottom fishing & trolling) get you a guide or charter to get the hang of it ..
Hope this helps a little ... the freshwater fishing in the area is some of the best in the nation ... The Appalchicola River system is really good and this includes the dead lakes as well as lake wimico. One of the best crappie creeks is between Pt St Joe & appalach you cross the very upper end of it on Hwy 98 .. Depot Creek.
Good Luck
