A Boys Wish For Christmas
A Boys Wish for Christmas
The little boy sat and wrote his letter to Santa Claus
He wrote while thinking, without a pause
He asked Santa to bring his Daddy home from Iraq
I will run and hug him and even help him with his back pack
I miss him taking me hunting, fishing, and playing ball
I stare at his picture each night on my wall
Santa, I know you are busy with Christmas stuff
But my Mommy says my Dad being gone is very tough
She cries at night when she goes to bed
I don’t want her to see me cry, so I cover my head
Last night we put up our big Christmas tree
When we were done she smiled but in her eye, a tear I could see
Then we sat down and wrote Daddy a Christmas card
And I added a picture of me hitting the baseball “REAL” hard
My Daddy would be so very proud of me
I have been the man of the house almost a year but it seems like three
My friends at school talk about the trips they took with their Dad
About all the things they did and the good time they had
I listen and laugh when they tell of where they went
But the only time I had with my Dad was from a letter he had sent
Santa, I know why my Dad and the others are fighting over there
They do it for our Country and the freedom we all share
But Santa there is only one thing I want for Christmas that I hope for and I pray
Bring my Daddy home for Christmas Day
