What part of Louisiana are you from. I used to live in Breaux Bridge. I miss fishing in the basin and catching the sac-a-lait down there. But now it is crappie. I fish mostly Truman. Always have a hard time at Pomme. Just seems not to be enough cover. Welcome to the board.
Originally from Erath/Abbeville area...Lived in Houston,Texas for 4 years, moved back to LA in Jan04 and fished Henderson all summer, couple of times we went to DuckLake. So you from Ozark near Springfield? why did you move up here? I came to work for CenturyTel/Lightcore...Quote:

Once nice thing about this lake it doesnt get the boat traffic like the other lakes in this state.

If you put in at Pittsburgh landing, the steeper bank (I think its the east bank) right by the landing has scattered brush piles down it. There are three that I concentrate on. I have a bow mounted fishfinder and I never would have found them if it wasn't for that. That bank is also right by the river channel so fish do come in from deeper water there. If you go uplake from there there are submerged and standing timber along the banks. Its been a tough year at Pomme. My dad and I usually do really good in the Galmey area when its cold in deep water, but this last winter was lousy. I haven't been up there since it warmed up. The website www.mwbt.com/Pomme.htm has fishing reports for Pomme and the rest of the area lakes. On Pomme and Stockton it usually has a little blurb about crappie. Hey Jimbo, I have a line on a small crappie tourney on Pomme on April 30th if you're interested. I have to work and can't fish it but I'm sure you can get in.
Yes it does have some flooded timber but like Tom said crappie fishing isnt the best. If I was you I would just drive right on by Pomme and fish Truman. Lots of flooded timber and some good spring and summer crappie fishing. Not the best lake for winter crappie, from what I have been told.Quote:
