Outboard Info Needed
Hey guys. I am needing to buy a 15hp outboard for my 14ft boat. Trying to get opinions from those that are running some of the newer motors or those that have info about them.
I am interested in your advice on all brands. Suzuki, Yamaha, Mercury, Nissan, etc....
Also if you know a good place to buy one on the net, please post that info too.
Thanks!

Mercury optimax. Enough said!:D

Brad,
I have always had good luck with the smaller mercurys. I know a lot of people think differnet, but I am in the US Coastguard. I put a lot of hours on those engines.
That is the Brand (90 Optimax) engine I own for my own personal boat as well. I have been working on them for about 9 years now...
If you look at getting a 4 stroke then spend the money on the 15 Honda.
I have got twin 225 Hondas on the back of the USCG Boat and they are great.
Hope this helps

WAIT, WAIT!!!!!!!!
It takes nine months for a baby to come!!!
You still have plenty of fishing time before that happens. :D
Congradulations to you and yours.

I got a 15hp Suzie 4 stroker with electric start on my 14 ft Jon (1436). That extra weight didn't make any difference on the way the boat set in the water. Runs bout 22mph GPS (too much).
I first got it, it didn't wanna start. Found out what that little plastic clip was for.
I'm pleased with the Suzie.
I think Tohatsu makes all the small 4 strokers now. Made in China. DON'T EAT THE PAINT.

Tuhotsu
Tuffest small engines I've ever seen. Most of the comercial fishermen around here use them. I had one on a 16' Weld Craft that I sold to a buddy. It's over 10 years old now and never had anything done to it other than change lower unit oil and new plugs. I think they are made by Nissan.

I agree with Tohatsu. I had one over 10 years and not a single problem from day 1. I think they make some of the small Mercury motors
