I noticed some folks are using sycle hooks . Is there an advantage to them over standard hooks ?
-
Camo, do you pour your own heads ?
-
I just started using them, haven't used them for very long though. They are very sharp.
-
stick steer. i buy the tube jig hooks and clip the tits off. the eyes is just a drop of finger nail polish.

I’ve used several different size red sickle hooks, so far in last few years I’ve had trouble with them breaking. Get hung, and tips of hook break,

Sickle are very sharp but I also find them more fragile than good ole eagle claws. Sure miss there lazer line though. As far as whether the bend of sickles help I'm not really sold.

A post from ‘07, I wasn’t even on here yet. I use sickle hooks almost exclusively, better hookset and they stay buried.

Eagleclaw does have the Pro V, I use those and they are very sharp and have held up well.

Myself and some of my friends here on the lake, we all think you loose less crappie using Sickle hooks. Personally I like how sharp they are, coming from a bass fishing mentality and loving Gamakatsu hooks, the Matuzo Sickles was the first hook to me that offered a low cost jig hook that was close enough to one of the premier type like Gamakatsu or Owner and as I understand it the owners of these companies were related, lol! SO the sharpness captured me first.
