Trip to look forward to

I will be leaving for Nova Scotia to do some touring and then fishing in 2 weeks. There are many streams in the Cape Brenton area with sea run trout and I will be fishing the Margaree for Atlantic Salmon. They are few streams with catchable Atlantics in them and many are closed to fishing for them to preserve the wild stock. The Margaree is one of a few that a guide is not required however we are getting one for one of our days on the water. Even this stream has strick requirements. Nonweighted barbless flys, total catch and release with a 3 fish a day limit. If there are other fishermen in a pool you can make a cast then have to take a step down stream in a rotation. This is different then what most of us experience but sounds like a good way to let everyone fish the best pools.
I have caught Great Lakes Atlantics but never experienced the real Saltwater run fish. This will be very special for me. When I talked to our guide and asked him what is a good day on the water he said just being on the water. My next question is what we could expect under normal conditions. He comented catching one salmon in a 8 hour day was the norm. Sounds challenging but I am really looking forward to being there and doing it.
The area has a lot of Scotish culture so we will absorb as much as posible. There native food is lobster and fish. I think I can force myself to eating some lobster with tons of butter. MY cholestrol was just checked and I am good to go.Also there are some very old distilleries to tour there also. I am somewhat of a tea toter but am willing to try a new experience.

You Might want to do the New Zealand gig for trout , I hear tell it’s all yours ….
And to be sure ,,,,Larsen Bay lodge on Kodiak is a must ….been there done that one ….
No other 2 legged souls on that island , a few monster browns though ….but the trade for the rainbows , steelhead , char and multiple other salmon species is for sure worth it ….:cheers2

I got to fish for 5 full days and a few hours prior. The water on the Margaree was extremely high. This made wadding very difficult at best. Swing wets were tough do to the high water wading. Enough complaining. I hooked one Atlantic salmon in about 40 hrs of fishing. It came out of the water and was gone in a few seconds. My friend Doug hooked one on a Bomer and landed a 12 lber. I did catch several medium sized wild brook trout on dry fys. This is a fairly large river and only trceives about 2,100 salmon a year. Touring the Cape Brenton area was interesting. The celtic influence was still in the people and we visited many places to learn there history and music. Most of the area is very rural and the general food store is also the hardware store and so on. There is a few Walmarts in the larger cities but very few and far between. I was reminded as it was when I started to grow up in the late 50s.
